Benovia embraces the belief that “exceptional vineyard sites produce wines with remarkable personality and extraordinary character.” Their wish is to showcase how distinctive these estate vineyards are and to explore the diverse expressions of Pinot Noir throughout the Russian River Valley. Winemaker Mike Sullivan relied on his deep knowledge of the vines in his care to blend two heritage clones from Benovia’s Tilton Hill Estate Vineyard for this never before, never again bottling.
It’s a celebration of a unique geographic location, perched on a ridgetop near the town of Freestone just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean. This maritime location is ideal for ripening Pinot Noir slowly, achieving a near perfect balance between vibrant acids and ripe flavors. The heirloom clones planted at Tilton Hill Vineyard are grown with a very high vine density to keep yields low and flavors concentrated, promising a wine with vibrant aromas of wild strawberry, Asian spices, and notes of coastal forest floor.
A winemaker dinner or store visit is offered as part of this lot. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and booked within a year of receipt.
