Longtime friends Mike Sullivan of Benovia Winery and Dan Kosta of AldenAlli teamed up to produce an exceptional Pinot Noir from the far reaches of the Sonoma Coast AVA for this year’s Barrel Auction. It is truly a celebration of a relationship that has spanned years. In fact, Kosta Browne Winery was the first to buy grapes from Benovia Owner Joe Anderson’s Cohn Vineyard in 2002.
This once-in-a-lifetime, five-case lot is a blend of Campbell Ranch and Tilton Hill Vineyard. The Campbell Ranch, located at the northern edge of the appellation, contributes beautiful spice and delicious dark fruits. Tilton Hill Vineyard is an estate vineyard near the town of Freestone and is known for being a high-risk and high-reward site because of its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, where it can be very cold and difficult to ripen Pinot Noir. This vintage delivers, and the fruit contributes to the wines savoriness and elegant texture. These old friends, both winemaking icons, have created a lot that offers the best of Sonoma County Pinot Noir, and is an exceptional wine that any collector would welcome in their cellar.
A winemaker dinner or store visit is offered as part of this lot. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and booked within a year of receipt.
