Established in 2008, Captûre is inspired by California’s frontier spirit while staying true to time-honored French winemaking traditions. The winery’s origins are rooted in the far reaches of the Mayacamas Mountains, and they actively seek out remote high-elevation vineyards in Sonoma, Napa and Lake Counties with an eye for pushing toward the next peak.
This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is hand-selected from a single block of Alden Vineyard, a mountain winegrowing estate in the hills of the Alexander Valley. It is a never before, never again wine from Winemaker Sam Teakle’s single favorite barrel, specifically selected for the Sonoma County Barrel Auction. Teakle’s mission is to showcase the diverse characteristics of wines grown in the Mayacamas Mountain Range, and this wine is one that expresses his philosophy more than any other in the vintage.
The hallmarks of the wine are balance and depth. On the nose you will find traditional varietal notes of black fruits and brown sugar, licorice and cassis, with the fine tannins produced on the mountain that reflect the vine-ripened flavors. This intense yet elegant wine will age effortlessly for 20 years or more.
A winemaker dinner or store visit is offered as part of this lot. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and booked within a year of receipt.
