Since its founding in 1972, Chalk Hill Estate has been one of Sonoma County’s benchmark producers, recognized for its uncompromising standards and meticulous attention to detail. For more than four decades the winery has produced exceptional wines that have received high acclaim from the trade, press and consumers. Chalk Hill Chardonnay is particularly recognized for its excellence, and each Chardonnay block at Chalk Hill Estate is planted with the ideal clone and rootstock—a thoughtful plan that is the ultimate result of years of learning what works best where.
Planted in 1974, the Shot Berry Chardonnay clone has loose clusters with many small “shot berries” from which its name originates. This unique five-case lot crafted by Chalk Hill Estate winemaker Steve Nelson is an homage to the Estate’s long history of experimenting with Chardonnay both in the vineyard and in the winery. The wine promises an age-worthy, food-friendly addition to any collector’s cellar.
