Founded in 1973 by Fred and Juelle Fisher—and now led by three siblings of the second generation—Fisher Vineyards produces terroir-driven, estate grown wines from both Sonoma County and Napa Valley. Nestled high on the western slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains, the Wedding Vineyard was first planted in 1973 and has earned lofty distinction from Robert Parker as his first near-perfect Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon review (receiving 99 points for the 97 vintage), a benchmark that stood alone for nearly a decade. Following the 2001 vintage, the Wedding Vineyard was replanted under the guidance of David Abreu, including a single, one-acre block of Cabernet Franc. Bottled as a separate varietal designate in select vintages only, Wedding Vineyard Cabernet Franc is borne of grey, clay loam soils that elevate varietal characteristics with profound focus and complexity.
This 2015 barrel selection marks the first offering of any kind from this tiny site. The resulting wine showcases classic Cabernet Franc characteristics including intense violet aromatics and flavors of blueberry, cassis, cedar and dark cocoa nibs.
A winemaker dinner or store visit is offered as part of this lot. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and booked within a year of receipt.
