ABOUT THE WINE

Francis Ford Coppola Winery was established in 2006, marking the Coppola family’s initial foray into Sonoma County winemaking. Over the next decade and beyond, the Coppola vision of quality, authenticity and pleasure became a reality, earning this winery a reputation as one of Sonoma County’s most impressive wine producers.

Archimedes, the flagship wine of Francis Ford Coppola Winery, pays homage to Francis’s “Uncle Archie,” and the Coppola family’s long-standing admiration of the legendary Greek mathematician, Archimedes. Archimedes is a limited production Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon made to honor the creativity and innovation of the human spirit. For The Golden Crown, Winemaker Sandy Walheim adds another chapter to the Archimedes story. The wine is sourced from the Blue Oak Vineyard, which is a core Archimedes vineyard known for producing some of the most sought-after fruit in southern Alexander Valley. The Cabernet Sauvignon from Blue Oak Vineyard is an excellent representation of what the winemaking team looks for in the finest wines—dense, concentrated grapes, spirited-yet-balanced tannins with hints of smoke and tobacco leading to a voluptuous finish. The Golden Crown is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon bottling that showcases the Coppola style with finesse and elegance, and it’s a dramatic never before, never again wine that will steal the spotlight in any collection.
