Planted on the steep grade to the north of Meacham Hill in the town of Cotati, Karah Estate was founded in 1995 by Michael Karah. A native of Tripoli, Libya, Karah grew up fascinated by agriculture and inspired by sprawling vineyards that surrounded his childhood home. When he found himself with an opportunity to build his own oasis in the golden hills of the Petaluma Gap—in a historic location that was once the origination point for Christo and Jean-Claude’s world-famous Running Fence—he transformed the land into one of the first in the AVA to be planted to Pinot Noir.
The 2017 “New Dawn” Pinot Noir represents the coming of a new era at Karah Estate. With a renewed focus on producing top-quality Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir from this dramatic, wind-swept AVA, the winery is proud to offer this wine as a first taste of Winemaker Reid Kinnett’s vision for the estate.
A winemaker dinner or store visit is offered as part of this lot. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and booked within a year of receipt.
