Lynmar began winemaking in the early 1990s, producing small amounts of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Over the next 35 years, the winery purchased several contiguous properties, that have since been amalgamated into a single stunning estate bordered by the Laguna de Santa Rosa watershed.
Proprietor Lynn Fritz first purchased Quail Hill Ranch and Vineyards in 1980, a property that boasts some of the oldest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines planted in the Russian River Valley. Lynmar Estate farms each of the 35 sub-blocks of its Quail Hill Vineyard, which are planted to 14 different clones and selections of Pinot Noir. Each sub-block is picked separately, fermented separately and barrel aged separately until blending right before bottling. Winemaker Peter Soergel uses distinct combinations of small fermentation lots to craft the blends which produce the various Quail Hill Vineyard wines.
For this special lot, Lynmar Estate chose solely from the most coveted heritage clonal selections that make up the key component of “Lynn’s Blend.” The vines were in their 12th leaf in the 2016 harvest, and as a result this block produced the most stunning, full bodied, polished and complex wine.
A winemaker dinner or store visit is offered as part of this lot. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and booked within a year of receipt.
