Around the globe, hillside and mountain-grown wines are coveted for their structure, complexity and exceptional age-worthiness. MacRostie Winery & Vineyards is a proponent of high elevation sites, where steep, windswept slopes and spartan soils yield many of Sonoma Coast’s most glorious Pinot Noirs. Though these sites are some of the most demanding to farm, they are also among the most rewarding. For this one-of-a-kind Pinot Noir, the team selected the best lots of wine from three spectacular hillside and mountain vineyards: Putnam and Hellenthal vineyards on the extreme Sonoma Coast, and Steve MacRostie’s own Wildcat Mountain Vineyard in the cool, southern Petaluma Gap region.
Though all three are renowned high elevation winegrowing sites, each brings something distinctive and special to this remarkable blend. Putnam provides gorgeous color and mesmerizing dark fruit, Hellenthal contributes pure red berry flavors and graceful sophistication and Wildcat completes the wine with its signature mix of structure, spice and cool-climate minerality. Artfully blended by Steve MacRostie and Winemaker Heidi Bridenhagen, this lot is a must for those who love Pinot Noirs of incomparable character and complexity.
A winemaker dinner or store visit is offered as part of this lot. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and booked within a year of receipt.
