The Mauritson Family has grown Sonoma County grapes for more than 140 years. Their great-great-great grandfather, S.P. Hallengren, was the first to plant vines in what is now the Rockpile AVA—and he shipped every ounce of his wine back to his heritage home in Sweden. Today fruit from Rockpile is some of the most sought after in Sonoma County, but the Mauritson Family promises to keep this wine right here! This single vineyard Cabernet comes from the original homestead in Rockpile, one of the only AVAs in America to have an elevation requirement. Grown on some of the highest mountainous terrain in Sonoma County, the team at Mauritson agreed that Everest is the clear name choice for a truly elevated wine.
Proprietor and Winemaker Clay Maurtison is also an aficianodo of fine Bourbon, and his expertise has led him to a deep appreciation for single barrel creations. This never before, never again Cabernet has been selected from the pinnacle of French oak barrels, tailored specifically to Mauritson’s single vineyard site in Rockpile. The finished blend has been aged exclusively in this barrel for the last 12 months, creating a unique expression that will never be replicated.
A winemaker dinner or store visit is offered as part of this lot. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and booked within a year of receipt.
