Medlock Ames’s commitment to quality through mindful and organic farming is one of the many reasons this Alexander Valley winery, founded by friends Chris James and Ames Morison, has garnered critical and customer acclaim. The approach to winemaking at Medlock Ames is to craft wines that are true to the vineyard’s beauty. With this in mind, Winemaker Ames Morison and the vineyard crew have been able to identify individual blocks that, over time, have brought forth amazing flavor and depth of character that showcase the signature Medlock Ames style.
This offering is a structured and muscular Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine’s name—The Top Terrace—is derived from an early experience when Founder Chris James, his father, and Ames moved 50 tons of rock by hand to restore natural terraces for the vine rows. The blocks that were harvested to create this wine are on steep hillsides making them difficult to farm, but incredibly intense in flavor. In each sip, you’ll find a lean, gravelly quality, rich complexity and a wine that was completely worth the extra effort.
