Merriam Vineyards’ wines are inspired by traditional French styles of farming and winemaking. Peter and Diana Merriam’s commitment to delivering vineyard-designated wines results in unique bottlings that live up to their Old World inspiration. Merriam Vineyards’ estate property, Windacre Vineyard is planted with various Bordeaux grapes. Located in the Russian River Valley on Limerick Lane, Windacre Vineyard is a single vineyard that experiences cool morning fog that gives way to hot days and cool evenings. Windacre is an exceptional Merlot grape-growing vineyard, very similar in temperature and soil types to the Pomerol region of France where the world’s most famous Merlots are made.
In the past, most of Merriam Vineyards’ blends have been predominately Cabernet Sauvignon. In an attempt to recreate the taste of a Right Bank blend—mostly Merlot—this is the first time that there is no Cabernet Sauvignon in a Bordeaux blend produced at Merriam Vineyards.
