After purchasing Cabernet Sauvignon fruit from the Mountain Terraces Vineyard in the newly-formed Moon Mountain District AVA, Steve Ledson knew just how spectacular this site was. He would dream of how he would improve the vineyard with lower cropping, new clones and modified row direction and spacing if only he had the chance. In 2012, when that chance came up, Steve quietly purchased the vineyard and began on his crusade to produce truly world-class wines from this unique site.
Mountain Terraces Vineyard features three distinctive soil types on a south/southwest facing slope stretching from 900 feet to 1,800 feet in elevation. The wines produced from sections of White Rhyolite, Andesite and iron-rich basalt soils all show distinctive fruit characters, textures and structure. Ledson has produced this one-of-a-kind blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, called “Trifecta” to showcase the intensity and complexity of wines produced from different areas within the site, and the resulting wine is a showstopper.
