Since its founding in 1988, Patz & Hall has exemplified one core philosophy: to work with only the finest vineyards in California farmed by the greatest growers. From these prized vineyards, Patz & Hall makes some of the New World’s most stirring and sought-after single-vineyard Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs—wines that have become benchmarks for their intensity, elegance and complexity. 2017 marked Patz & Hall’s 30th vintage, and to honor this significant milestone, Winemaker James Hall has crafted a blend of top Pinot Noir vineyard lots into a 30th Vintage Celebration Cuvée. Hall has been the Patz & Hall Winemaker for all 30 years, and has worked with some of Sonoma’s most visionary growers, as well as legendary vineyard sites.
Hall had a little fun with this wine. It is a blend, and most of what he makes at Patz & Hall are single-vineyard Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. To create this truly one-of-a-kind blend, he selected some of his favorite lots from Gap’s Crown Vineyard (Sonoma Coast), Jenkins Ranch (Sonoma Coast), Little Boot Vineyard (Russian River Valley), Cattalini Vineyard (Russian River Valley) and Burnside Vineyard (Russian River Valley). The wine will be aged in 100% new French oak—a Seguin Moreau “Icon” barrel.
This singular offering showcases the lasting relationships that James Hall has created with legendary local growers while also delivering the balance, depth, finesse and purity of Pinot Noir for which Patz & Hall is known. In addition to this 20-case lot, the winning bidder will receive two tickets to attend the Patz & Hall Annual Lobster Feed at the Sonoma House on May 12th, 2018.
A winemaker dinner or store visit is offered as part of this lot. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and booked within a year of receipt.
