Since 1927, when the Pedroncelli family purchased a vineyard and a small winery in Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley, two elements remain unchanged: the exceptional place and the family’s dedication to making fine wines. Ninety years ago, Giovanni and Julia Pedroncelli bought a home, a shuttered winery and 25 acres of vineyard, right in the middle of a little time called Prohibition. Giovanni had a family to care for, so he sold the grapes to home winemakers, keeping the family supported and the vineyard going until Repeal. Once Prohibition ended, he began a family business that continued to grow and thrive, and that now spans four generations.
All of this happened on what the family calls the Home Ranch, a vineyard consisting of mostly Zinfandel along with Petite Sirah and Sangiovese. This Dry Creek Valley ‘field blend style’ of the three, reflects a tribute to Giovanni’s heritage and to four generations of family working together calling this corner of Dry Creek home.
