The Pellegrini family name has been associated with every tier of the wine business since the early part of the 20th Century, from selling Sonoma County grapes to running a wholesale wine distribution company to planting a vineyard and establishing a winery in the heart of Russian River Valley. The Pellegrinis are a fourth-generation family-owned producer of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from their acclaimed Monopole vineyard: Olivet Lane Estate. Planted in 1975 by Vincent and Aida Pellegrini, Olivet Lane Vineyard has continuously produced some of the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Russian River Valley. This one-of-a-kind five-case lot represents the original Olivet Lane Estate planting and the last Olivet Lane Chardonnay of this grand age.
The 41-year-old Wente Heritage Clone Chardonnay vines that yielded this wine were removed for replanting after harvesting the 2016 vintage. The maturity of the vines, combined with the classic clone of Chardonnay and the terroir of this venerable site, creates a deeply complex and elegantly structured wine. This unique lot is a tribute to Aida Pellegrini, and a celebration of Russian River Valley winegrowing history.
A winemaker dinner or store visit is offered as part of this lot. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and booked within a year of receipt.
