The Petaluma Gap continues to redefine Sonoma County Pinot Noir, and the passionate producers here are true believers in the power and potential of wines from this dramatic region. Not for the faint of heart vintner, the Petaluma Gap is known for early-to-mid-morning coolness and a blanket of fog. Late morning sun chases away the fog and the temperatures rise… But by mid-afternoon the cool breezes return, flowing west to east and increasing in speed and bluster while ushering in the nightly fog. With daily temperature swings of forty to fifty degrees and a “wind tunnel” effect, grapes ripen later, developing wonderful flavors and fruit characteristics while maintaining ideal levels of acidity. It’s the perfect recipe for intense but well-balanced wines.
This wine is sourced from Petaluma Gap Winegrowers Alliance Members as a debut lot of emblematic Pinot Noir vineyards of this windswept region. It’s a conversation-starting addition to any collection, and a wine that delivers on its many promises.
A winemaker dinner or store visit is offered as part of this lot. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and booked within a year of receipt.
