Rodney Strong was a pioneer of Sonoma County’s wine industry, a visionary who understood the potential that Sonoma County’s soil and climate held for producing world-class wines. Now under the care of Proprietor Tom Klein and Winemaker Justin Seidenfeld, Rodney Strong Vineyards carries this legacy forward by continuing to craft wines that achieve critical acclaim, and express Sonoma County terroir.
Seidenfeld has crafted this one-of-a-kind lot from a single row of his favorite block of Cabernet Sauvignon along the eastern fence line of Bavarian Lion Vineyard, located in the heart of Knights Valley. The fruit was night-harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented in 600 liter open top barrels with hand punch-downs twice a day. The wine is being aged for 26 months in 100% new Taransaud French oak barrels. This dense, powerful wine shows expressive red and black fruits with hints of coffee and milk chocolate, finishing with round, full tannins.
A winemaker dinner or store visit is offered as part of this lot. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and booked within a year of receipt.
