ABOUT THE WINE

Schug Winery is proud to offer this once-in-a-lifetime barrel selection for the Bordeaux-blend enthusiast. With the same vision as the legendary Insignia wines created by the winery’s founder Walter Schug, this wine pays homage to the Right Bank. This barrel lot will spend 26 months in one to three year-old French oak barrels to fill out the tannins gracefully, while adding longevity and structure.

The fruit is sourced from Rancho Salina Vineyard in the Moon Mountain AVA, and the blend is 50% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Franc, with small additions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The combination of higher elevation, steep volcanic soils and constant gentle breezes lends itself to deeply colored, richly concentrated wines. At 20 years old these vines are fully mature, resulting in wines of exceptional consistency and grace which may be cellared and enjoyed for 15 years or more.
