Siduri, named for the Babylonian goddess of wine, is the result of Adam Lee’s love of Pinot Noir and the dream that they could make great wines of their own. They believe in minimal intervention so that the winemaking forwards, rather than overshadows, what happens in the vineyard. To that end, Siduri wines are unfiltered and unfined, maximizing the expression of these very diverse sites.
Winemakers Adam Lee and Ryan Zepaltas, known for creating wines with cult-like followings, sat down for blending trials on the Barbieri Vineyard. The goal was to create a one-time-only blend that not only reflects the vineyard, but also has the longest ageing ability—meaning firm but gentle tannins, bright acidity and dense fruit character. The final blend is a mix of Clones 828, Pommard and Dijon 667, hand harvested at three different times during the 2017 harvest. The blend was selected barrel by barrel, and the final blend was gently racked into tank and then barreled down into a new French Oak barrel where it will continue to age until it is bottled.
