Founded in 1973 as a vineyard company, Sonoma-Cutrer has a long-standing reputation of craftsmanship. Its attention to detail and exceptional quality caused demand for Sonoma-Cutrer grapes to grow quickly. This early success led the founders to assemble a group of world-renowned, forward-thinking experts to develop a state-of-the-art winery. The winery’s inaugural vintage was introduced in 1981 and, in its own unique way, influenced California Chardonnay as we know it today. Today, Sonoma-Cutrer is best known for world-class Chardonnays, each reflecting the character of the region and the craft of the winemaker.
“Single” is the word that most accurately describes the attributes of this exclusive Chardonnay lot. Fruit for this unique wine was picked in a single harvest from a single block of the famous The Cutrer Vineyard, located in the heart of the Russian River Valley. The wine was barrel aged in a single oak barrel made of wood from a single French forest.
Every element that has played a role in crafting this elegant wine has been in Sonoma-Cutrer’s control since the beginning. The wine itself is richly textured with a creamy mid-palate and a long persistent finish highlighted with Sonoma-Cutrer’s signature bright acidity. Fruit flavors of peach and apple are accentuated with hints of baked apple, butterscotch, warm pie crust, caramel, light vanilla and oak. If you are looking for the quintessential Russian River Chardonnay, look no further—this is the ultimate expression.
A winemaker dinner or store visit is offered as part of this lot. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and booked within a year of receipt.
