For the Duncan Family, wine quality starts in the vineyard—and sites capable of producing complex, layered wines are rare.
Such is the case with this unique, 5-case Sonoma County Barrel Auction lot, hailing from our recently acquired Twomey Pinot Noir vineyard in the heart of the Russian River Valley, Last Stop Vineyard, named for where the old Petaluma-Santa Rosa rail line ended. This site features rolling, oak-studded hillsides and 100% Goldridge soils—a fine, well-draining sandy loam prized for high quality wine grapes.
This bright ruby Pinot Noir reveals a delicate balance of pomegranate, wild blackberry and rose petal aromas, nuanced by a hint of spicy wild chanterelles. The lively entry is redolent of red fruit and the tart freshness of Gravenstein apples. There is a vein of savory umami on the palate, balanced by a sweet taste of lingering tobacco.
A winemaker dinner or store visit is offered as part of this lot. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and booked within a year of receipt.
