Viluko Vineyards is nestled between Calistoga and Santa Rosa along the steep rocky hillsides of the Mayacamas Mountains. Proprietors Pedro and Karen Arroyo are dedicated to organic farming to protect the 500 acres of surrounding native habitat. Draped over peaks and slopes are home to 37 acres of vine comprised of predominantly Bordeaux varietals including Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc, with a small block of Chardonnay that flourishes along the cool Mark West Creek.
The 2015 Viluko “Return of the King” is a Bordeaux blend representing Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec from opposing ridge lines. The generous amount of Malbec in this Cabernet Sauvignon makes it a standout while paying tribute to the Arroyo family’s Chilean heritage. The name is a play on words, a hearken to the response to last year’s auction lot and a nod to the Arroyo’s favored trilogy.
A winemaker dinner or store visit is offered as part of this lot. Must be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date and booked within a year of receipt.
