Sonoma County is diverse in so many ways, both in its wonderful mix of cultures and ideas and in its diverse landscape of redwood forests, farmland and craggy coastline. The unique geography and microclimates—from Sonoma Coast, to Russian River Valley, and Petaluma Gap—provide for the cultivation of unsurpassed vineyards from which artisan winemakers craft truly special wines with a sense of place
Williams Selyem is fortunate to grow and source grapes from these world-class appellations. Within each AVA are unique sub-regions defined by soil type, proximity to fog and elevation, all of which lend to this sense of place.
William Selyem’s 2018 Sonoma County Barrel Auction lot is a nod to the diversity of the county. Director of Winemaking Jeff Mangahas has taken a little bit from each of their 20 Pinot Noir vineyards from the 2017 vintage to create a panoramic view of Sonoma County. Included in the blend are classic vineyards such as Williams Selyem Estate, Allen, Rochioli, Precious Mountain and Terra de Promissio, and each representing the best of Sonoma County Pinot Noir.
