Santa Rosa, CA (April 29, 2016)—The Sonoma County Vintners are celebrating after 75 unique Sonoma County wine lots fetched a total of $693,800 at today’s 2016 Sonoma County Barrel Auction, increasing the event’s fundraising total by more than 50 percent over last year. More than 250 top wine professionals and media attended the event which featured rare, small lot wines from 16 of Sonoma County’s 17 appellations.
Sonoma County, CA, April 12, 2016 – Following the announcement of a record-breaking total of $3,486,726 in charitable contributions to Sonoma County non-profit organizations last month, Sonoma Wine Country Weekend, a partnership between the Sonoma County Vintners and Sonoma Valley Vintners and Growers Alliance, formed 9 years ago, announced the creation of three new, Sonoma Wine Country Weekend dedicated positions. “Due to our significant achievements and explosive growth, particularly with the Sonoma Harvest Wine Auction, we had to expand our infrastructure to insure continued growth and success of Sonoma Wine Country Weekend,” said Maureen Cottingham, Executive Director, Sonoma Valley Vintners & Growers Alliance. The announcement also includes the filling of those positons; Senior Events Director, Sponsorship Director and Winery Relations Manager.
Lynn Blumberg has been named Sonoma Wine Country Weekend Senior Events Director, Tammi Matthias fills the role of Sponsorship Director and Mindi Wiley becomes Winery Relations Manager.
Senior Events Director, Lynn Blumberg will play a key leadership role in the development and execution of Sonoma Wine Country Weekend, the multi-day fundraising event that builds awareness for Sonoma County and Sonoma County Wines. In addition, Lynn will help identify and develop key strategies, establish budgets to support approved goals and objectives, and evaluate program results.
A veteran of twelve Olympic Games and five FIFA World Cup™ programs, Blumberg brings proven leadership, global event experience and deep operational expertise to Sonoma Wine Country Weekend. Most recently Lynn worked as an Account Director in the San Francisco office of GMR (formerly SportsMark), and was responsible for planning and managing international sponsor hospitality programs from concept to execution. Her passion for Sonoma County makes her a committed and enthusiastic ambassador for the industry and the signature event for the Sonoma County wine community.
Tammi Matthias, the new Sponsorship Director, brings a successful track record of fund development and securing charitable gifts, as well as significant experience working with Boards of Directors, members, volunteers and stakeholders. Matthias will be responsible for managing and executing the sponsorship program to maximize Sonoma Wine Country Weekend’s overall effectiveness. She is passionate about joining an organization with a clear mission to raise money that invests in future generations through funding local non-profits.
Tammi most recently served as Vice President of Development for the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce. In addition to development and membership, she managed human resources, operations, facilities and provided support to the finance department. Prior to joining the Chamber, she spent many years managing an International non-profit organization to the baking industry.
New Winery Relations Manager, Mindi Wiley brings her ambitious spirit, leadership ability and client relations skills to the dynamic Sonoma Wine Country Weekend family. In this role, Wiley’s focus is on managing the Vintner Champion Program and overseeing winery participation in Sonoma Wine Country weekend to maximize membership participation and exposure.
Mindi is a Sonoma Valley native, a multiple-sport Sonoma Valley High School athlete and an American Studies graduate from the University of California, Berkeley, where she played four seasons of division-one volleyball. After two years of playing professional volleyball overseas, Wiley returned to the States and joined Verve Napa Valley – Curated Wine Tours & Events as a Marketing & Special Events Associate. As part of the startup phase of the Verve team, the creative opportunities were endless. Working with an eclectic team and vivacious minds, Mindi helped craft and grow one of the most unique hospitality experiences in wine country. In 2014, after two years with the thriving Verve brand, Mindi decided to combine her passion for hospitality and philanthropy and joined Destination Races as the Charity & Volunteer Coordinator, where she built a thriving hospitality and winery partnership program within the Destination Races Empire.
